How To Replace an iPhone 6 LCD Screen

The following guide is meant to give you a step by step instruction on how to replace a broken, damaged or cracked LCD assembly on an iPhone 6. Please be sure to take care during all steps of this repair as parts and flex cables can be easily damaged or broken. As well, you must be sure to keep track of where each screw is removed from so that when it comes time to re-install them you know exactly where to put them. When removing or lifting flex cables, it is suggest to use plastic spudgers or plastic opening and lifting tools. Before continuing it is advised to read the disclaimer at the bottom of this article.

We suggest the following parts and tools for this repair:

• iPhone 6 LCD Assembly
• Plastic Opening & Lifting Tool for Flex Cables
• Plastic Spudger
• Suction Cup
• 2 Pentalobe Screwdrivers
• Philips Head Screwdriver
• Replacement Pentalobe Security Screws

Step by Step iPhone 6 Screen Replacement

1. Power off your iPhone.
2. If your screen is badly damaged apply clear packing tape to its surface until the entire glass assembly is covered.
3. Remove the 3.6mm Pentalobe or Phillips #000 screws located at the bottom of the phone near the dock connector. Note: The 5-point Pentalobe Screwdriver should only be used once as it has the potential to strip the screws.
4. Secure a suction cup to the front LCD Assembly and gently pull on the assembly while using a pry tool along the bottom and sides and begin to lift the assembly away from the body of the phone.
5. Remove the 5 Phillips head screws near the top right of the battery which secure the metal assembly cable bracket to the phone.
6. Remove the metal assembly cable bracket.
7. Carefully disconnect the Front-Facing Camera Flex Cable, Home Button Flex Cable, LCD Flex Cable and Digitizer Flex Cable from the logic board. Lift the assembly away from the iPhone.
8. On the back of the broken display, remove the two screws connection the home button and lift away the metal shield.
9. Disconnect the flex cable connection the home button to the display assembly.
10. Gently remove the home button assembly and secure it to your new display.
11. Re-assemble your iPhone by working the previous steps backwards. Be sure to remove the film from the back side of the LCD Assembly and remove the front film after re-assembly is complete.
